gatekeeper 把關者

A secretary, assistant or employee who screens calls and visitors and decides who gets to meet with higher ranking managers or executives.

gatekeeper一般是指「守門員;看門者」。在商場上, gatekeeper指的是一間公司中過濾(screen) 電話或來訪者的人。此人通常是秘書、助理或是員工,他們可以決定誰可以或不可以見公司高層 (higher ranking) 經理或主管 (executive)。


A: I have been trying to get a sales meeting with the purchasing manager for weeks so I can show him our new product line.

B: What’s the holdup?

A: His secretary will not let me see him or even let me make an appointment.

B: Well, one of the hardest things about sales is getting past the gatekeepers.
