A new broom sweeps clean.--新官上任三把火

這句諺語直譯是「新的掃帚掃得比較乾淨」，意思就是新到某個職務的人為了求表現，通常會拼命工作，以交出亮麗成績。這句諺語通常用在剛接任新職的高階人員身上，他們通常一上任就會大刀闊斧改變許多既有的規定，雖然有人叫好，也有人會因此而不適應。同樣的，當一個國家發生政權輪替 (change in power)，內閣人事通常都會大換血，民眾則無不期待這些新官有好的表現，畢竟 a new broom sweeps clean！
